During our final week at Clarion, I was feeling rather blue until I started reading Ferrett's last story, entitled "Transparency." As I finished the first page, I laughed perhaps three or four times because of the quirky voice and the immediate bond I felt towards the teenaged protagonist. And transforming the reader's emotions in such a manner especially is the sign of great fiction. "Transparency" was Ferrett's strongest story at Clarion, and he finished with a bang.
And we've just discovered that his last Clarion story has just been accepted by Asimov's! Hurray for Ferrett!
